Any creative rocky horror fans out there, do I ever have a challenge for you!
I have been thinking very hard about this and I really need someone else's opinion on this...
Does anyone have any idea where the insipiration for Columbia's costumes came from

My ideas are:
Marilyn Monroe (hourglass silhouette) and stereotypical broadway girl

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

At some point, before moving to London, Nell played Faith Sequin in a musical called "Hot Pants." Then there was a video (no longer available) on YouTube with Nell and another girl, Jules, as street performers (Buskers) called "the Sequin Sisters" in 1971. "Jules was dressed as a pierrot and I'd be in top hat and tails singing old '30s numbers and tap dancing,"

I think a lot of her character and costume ideas was just as they found her - as an exuberant street performer attracting attention. But I don't think she used her sexuality to do it.

EXACTLY. Mina really hit it on the head. Her look and costumes are a mix of 1930's chorus girl, Vaudeville, Busker (aka Ruby Keeler) and 70's Punk.

I really do not see a Monroe connection at all.

I see a connection to Monroe with Frank.
I'm a big Marilyn fan; Some Like It Hot is a great movie.

But in the way he speaks with every word carefully oozing sexuality with a veneer of little effort, The way he holds himself and the expressions; some really reminisce her singing "I Want To Be Loved By You". The desperate want of glamour, too.

But with Columbia, I can always see a bit of a circus-y influence on her outfits. It's like Frank's mansion is a one sexed up freak show of a circus and she has taken that in her stride, and again the glitzy desperation for glamour, as her outlit is by far the least tarnished of the Transyanians, which changes to her ripped and exposing pj's when she is rejected from this life by Frank. I had to do some Rocky costume designing for a University art application (which I never sent off) and that is how I focussed on it. I had what was basically an essay on how her outfit must reflect certain symbolic parts of herself.
